Ginohn's
Chicken Mushroom Cacciatore Finding
a chicken mushroom can provide days of feasting. We suggest
recipes that require
long cooking,
especially for older chickens. If cooked correctly, chicken mushrooms
are
a great meat substitute,
with a taste and texture similar to white meat chicken.
You'll need a big skillet and these ingredients:
cooking oil.
1 onion, chopped.
a couple cloves of garlic, chopped or pressed.
green and red peppers, chopped.
about a pound of chicken mushrooms, the younger the better. Cut to
chicken
nugget size.
a jar of tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, curry sauce, or some kinda
sauce
like that.
salt, pepper, and other spices to taste.
Sauté the onions, garlic, and peppers until the onions are
almost
done.
Add chicken mushrooms and sauté for another 10 minutes or so.
Add tomato sauce and spices, or pre-seasoned spaghetti sauce.
Simmer for about 20 minutes, adding water and stirring often to keep
it from drying up.
Eat it up, either by itself or on top of noodles or rice.
Chickens grow on trees!
This is a dense mushroom,
enough to make three
big meals for four people.
Cleaned and ready. Older chicken
mushrooms must cook longer.
Cook and simmer, adding water
to keep it from scalding. The
house fills with yummy smells.
Ready to eat! This batch was
made with spaghetti sauce. And
the next day...
... we used a curry sauce to
make Bombay Curry Chicken
Mushroom Sammitches!
